Defence Minister Guodo Crosetto said
Friday that a resurgence of antisemitic acts in Italy amid the
Gaza war were not spontaneous but had what he called "directors"
behind them.
"The resurgence in antisemitism in Italy is less strong than in
other countries but is still concerning", he told Radio24.
"Antisemitism exists and is present in (Italian) society albeit
in an absolutely minority measure.
"But it is emerging that these manifestations are not wholly
spontaneous and that some of them have directors pulling the
strings behind them," said the minister.
Crosetto added: "they are fighting a hybrid war with fake news,
misinformation and in many other ways.
"It appears for instance that some demonstrations in France
weren't pushed by the racism of some groups".
