The Mona Lisa will have a new room in
he Louvre with independent access, French President Emmanuel
Macron said Tuesday.
Perhaps the world's most famous painting will be exhibited in a
new room of the Parisian museum, with independent access from
the rest of the Louvre, announced Macron in front of Leonardo Da
Vinci's masterpiece as part of the 'Renaissance du Louvre'
project.
Last week the Lombardy region offered to host the Mona Lisa
after French newspaper Le Parisien published a letter in which
Laurence des Cars, president of the Louvre Museum, requested
urgent help from French Culture Minister Rachida Dati to
renovate its ageing exhibition halls in order to
better protect its masterworks.
