The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, sent a message of condolences to Catholics around the world on the passing of Pope Francis, showing appreciation for the Pontiff's attitude towards the war in Gaza.
"Among the highlights of his spiritual life and leadership are the humanitarian stances he took against inhumane behaviour in the world, particularly his outspoken positions and condemnation of the Israeli regime's genocidal war in Gaza and his call for an end to the killing of innocent Palestinian women and children," the message written by Pezeshkian reads, as Mehr reports. "I honour his name and memory and ask Almighty God to grant the soul of that religious leader eternal peace," Iran's president added.
