Italy and Germany have many common
challenges including migration, Premier Giorgia Meloni told
Christian Democratic Union leader and likely incoming Chancellor
Friedrich Merz on the phone Monday.
Meloni "had a telephone conversation today with the leader of
the CDU, Friedrich Merz. Congratulating him first of all for the
victory in the elections in Germany", read a note from Palazzo
Chigi.
Meloni "confirmed the hope of being able to further intensify
the already excellent bilateral relations and expressed the
willingness to work immediately in close contact to strengthen
security and relaunch the competitiveness of Europe and address
the many common challenges, starting with the fight against
irregular immigration".
