Italian imports in January grew 3.2% compared to exports which recorded a more modest 0.6% growth in month-on-month terms, Istat said on Tuesday.
On an annual basis, instead, exports rose by 2.5% in value but
fell by 2.6% in volume, the national statistics bureau reported.
Imports reported a tendential increase of 8.8% in value and of
4.1% in volume.
Istat also reported that in January the prices of imports
increased by 0.4% on a monthly basis and by 1.4% on an annual
basis (compared to +0.1% in December 2024), explaining that such
dynamics were due to a rise in energy products, in particular
crude oil, and intermediate goods.
