Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni on
Friday denied reports that Secretary of State Pietro Parolini,
who will preside over the upcoming conclave to elect Pope
Francis's successor and is a favourite to become the 267th
leader of the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, has had health
issues.
"No, it's not true": the director of the Vatican press office
Bruni responded, in Frida's media briefing, to those who asked,
as had been circulated on traditionalist American sites and also
some Italian sites, whether Parolin had had health problems.
When asked whether doctors or nurses had intervened to aid the
70-year-old Veneto born prelate, spokesman Bruni replied: "no".
