Paolo Genovese's new rom com
FolleMente (a pun in Italian for crazy mind) with a huge cast of
Italian stars was a box office hit on its opening weekend,
helping drive overall sales up 43% compared to the previous
week, according to Cinetel figures released on Monday.
The movie - starring Edoardo Leo, Pilar Fogliati, Emanuela
Fanelli, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Claudia Pandolfi, Vittoria
Puccini, Marco Giallini, Maurizio Lastrico, Rocco Papaleo and
Claudio Santamaria - collected four million euros at the box
office in Italy over the weekend, only trailing behind Captain
America: brave new world, which garnered 4.7 million euros.
The third place went to the third instalment in the Paddington
franchise - Paddington in Peru - which collected 987,975 euros
on its opening weekend.
In general, according to Cinetel data, Italian movie ticket
sales over the weekend totalled a combined 8 million and 324,000
euros, up 21.9% on the same period last year.
