The GIFT Festival (Georgian International Festival of Arts in Tbilisi), in honour of Mikhail Tumanishvili, is a celebration that gathers the best local and international artists and theatre companies in the Georgian capital every year.
This year the Festival, now in its XXVII edition and organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi, launched a new programme for young artists, the 'GIFT Biennale college' competition, in analogy with the Venice Biennale initiative.
Italian Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono attended the launch event of the programme, which was presented by Gianni Forte, Italian playwright and author as well as artistic director of the theatre sector of the Venice Biennale, and Michele Panella, director and international director of the Gift Festival.
"The initiative includes the awarding of a prize that will allow the winner to realise their project and present it as part of the 2025 edition of the Gift Festival, an event of great interest and artistic quality that offers young playwrights, artists and theatre directors a stage for international cultural exchange and cooperation," said Ambassador d'Antuono.
