On the occasion of the 12th edition of the IDEAS Defence Industries Exhibition, currently taking place in Karachi, Pakistan launched the ambitious project, conceived by the Pakistan Navy, to create the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP). Italian industries in the sector, including Elettronica, Fincantieri, Leonardo and MBDA, have committed to exploring future collaborations, including in the fields of training, research and development, within the PMSTP.
The Technology Park, which will be based in Karachi, intends to develop synergies between academia, institutions and the private sector for the promotion of a cutting-edge technology system in the marine and naval sector, conducive to innovation, start-ups and talent incubation. The Park has already been granted the status of 'Special Technology Zone' with tax exemption.
The inauguration of the PMSTP by the Pakistan Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, took place in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, in recognition of the role of Italian companies in the defence sector.
