Yesterday, at Palazzo Borromeo, the event 'Jubilee 2025 and Roots Tourism. Synergies and opportunities for the rediscovery and enhancement of territories", organised by the Embassy of Italy to the Holy See in conjunction with the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies of the Farnesina, headed by Luigi Maria Vignali, was held yesterday to reflect on the opportunities that the Holy Year offers for the whole Italian territory, in particular with reference to the project of "Tourism of Roots", strongly desired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
The Farnesina's focus on making Italians abroad and the Italian-descendant communities familiar with and rediscovering our territory and our identity factors was highlighted in the speeches by Antonio Corsi, Minister Tajani's advisor for activities to promote the cultural and musical traditions of Italian communities abroad and Mayor of Sgurgola, and Gianluigi Tombolini, advisor for activities to enhance tourism in the territories and Mayor of Numana.
Msgr. Graziano Borgonovo, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Evangelisation, spoke for the Holy See, and for the Italian Episcopal Conference, the Undersecretary and Director of the Office for the pastoral care of leisure, tourism and sport, Don Michele Gianola. Representing the national territory, from North to South, bringing different experiences of territorial enhancement and illustrating the experience of "Tourism of Roots" in various geographical contexts were: the Councillor of the Marche Region, Andrea Maria Antonini; Agostino Miozzo, Advisor to the President of the Region of Calabria and Commissioner for the reception of the Jubilee 2025; the Mayors of Aquileia, Emanuele Zorino, Caramanico Terme, Franco Parone, San Romano in Garfagnana, Raffaella Mariani, and Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, Rosanna Repole.
