The Italian film 'Upside Down' (2021) by Luca Tornatore, starring Gabriele Di Bello, Donatella Finocchiaro, Fabio Troiano, Antonio Zavatteri, on the topic of inclusion and support for people with disabilities, was screened at the Linguistic University of Moscow. The initiative is part of the World Day of People with Down Syndrome, and within the framework of the commitment on this issue of the Italian embassy in Moscow and the consulates general in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as the honorary consular network. The embassy also supported the participation of the young protagonist, Gabriele di Bello, and the director, Luca Tornatore, in the event.
The ambassador, Cecilia Piccioni, recalled the words of President of the Republic Mattarella, emphasising that the inclusion of people with disabilities is a test case for the full affirmation of human rights and democratic heritage. The Italian approach to the issue, which attracted the interest of the many participants, was enriched by the comic strip exhibition "The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities through the Eyes of Young People", with the support of the Ministry for Disabilities and the Scuola Umbra di Amministrazione Pubblica. The initiatives will continue in order to raise awareness, starting with the youngest and most vulnerable social groups, on the distinctive features and experiences that are most representative of Italy's heritage of values today.
