The exhibition 'Una sola Tierra, Una sola Humanidad: el Campamento de los Caminantes Enamorados en Bogotá' by the Italian artist Tarshito opened yesterday evening at the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogotá to great public and critical acclaim.
The exhibition, supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Bogotá, is the first event of the numerous events planned for this week to celebrate Europe Day.
The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Tarshito (Nicola Strippoli) and twelve Colombian artists, who created the works on display together. The project is part of a research path that Tarshito has built up over the years, visiting eighteen different countries and each time entering into dialogue with different artists, territories, techniques and knowledge.
The inauguration was attended, among others, by the Ambassador of Italy in Bogotá, Giancarlo Maria Curcio, the Ambassador of the European Union to Colombia Gilles Bertrand, the Under Secretary for Culture of the City of Bogotá Ana Maria Boada, and the Director of the Heritage and Memory Directorate of the Colombian Ministry of Culture Mónica Orduña Monsalve.
'With this exhibition, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute reaffirm their commitment to the dissemination of Italian art as a bridge between cultures,' said Ambassador Curcio in his opening greeting, 'Una sola Tierra, Una sola Humanidad invites us to rediscover, through art and craftsmanship, that the world is a tapestry of interwoven stories, where beauty is the language we all share. And this bridge between cultures does not only go from Italy to Colombia, but also from Colombia to Italy. It is for this reason that we wanted to exhibit, alongside the works of Tarshito, some works by Gilberto and Óscar Granja, masters of Barniz de Pasto, presented a few months ago in Venice in the exhibition 'Homo Faber: crafting a more human future', an event that brings together the best of artistic craftsmanship worldwide'.
All the authorities present expressed words of great appreciation for the exhibition, which once again represents the strong closeness between Italian and Colombian culture.
"Una sola Terra, Una sola Umanità: El Campamento de los Caminantes Enamorados en Bogotá" will be open to the public at the Italian Cultural Institute of Bogotá until 25 May, and from 6 to 8 May, the artist Tarshito will hold a series of meetings and workshops at the Centro Felicidad Chapinero CEFE.
