Pope Francis's tomb has been made of
Ligurian marble and only bears the inscription Franciscus, his
name in Latin, the Vatican said Thursday.
The tomb that will host the body of Pope Francis next Saturday
in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has been made of marble
of Ligurian origin with only the inscription "FRANCISCUS" and
the reproduction of his pectoral cross.
The tomb has been prepared in the niche of the side nave between
the Cappella Paolina (Chapel of the Salus Populi Romani) and the
Cappella Sforza of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
The tomb is located near the Altar of Saint Francis, said the
Press Office of the Holy See.
