Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday he would brief parliament on Gaza by the end of May.
"When there is a calendar (of parliamentary work, ed.) I will go and answer. I will go and answer by the end of the month", Tajani responded to the question of when he could report to Parliament on the situation in Gaza, as requested today by the opposition in the Senate for an urgent briefing from the minister.
Tajani said this on the sidelines of a conference on Europe underway in Rome.
"There is no problem, I have always gone. Just look at how many times I have gone to Parliament. The rest is just propaganda.
Every day they ask for someone to go and report on something", he added.
The opposition has accused the government of Giorga Meloni of failing to condemn an allegedly disproportionate Israeli response to the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, with mass civilian casualties and a looking famine which have been condemned by the UN. Tel Aviv says it takes all due precautions to avoid collateral damage but the Islamist militants are embedded in Gazan civilian life.
