The German Social Democratc Party
(SPD) has pushed to eliminate Italy from the strategic
countries, foreseen in the government coalition pact, with which
to expand the German-French-Polish axis, the so-called Weimar
triangle, newspaper Die Welt website reports, citing
well-informed sources.
Rome "at the time of the coalition agreement, was still part of
a strategic axis of the EU" and "the passage was cancelled at
the insistence of the SPD", writes the German media outlet,
specifying that "the representatives of the CDU (Christian
Democratic Union) speak unofficially of a mistake".
