The Ambassador of Italy in Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, attended with the Consul General of Italy in Toronto, Luca Zelioli, the inauguration of the new Ferrero production line at the Canadian plant in Brantford (Ontario).
Ferrero has decided to bet on Canada once again with an investment of 445 million Canadian dollars to expand its production in the country. In addition to the start of production of Nutella Biscuits, a new product will be launched globally, so far only made in Ontario: Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Squares. The expansion of Ferrero's operations will lead to the creation of 500 jobs, in addition to the approximately 1,300 jobs already existing at the Brantford plant. Ambassador Cattaneo emphasised that Ferrero's investment is an extraordinary demonstration of the company's confidence and commitment to the Canadian market, in which it has been investing for over 40 years. This decision takes on even greater importance in light of the current uncertain moment for international trade.
The ambassador also remarked that Ferrero's investment represents a great example of the success of Made in Italy, which in Canada is combined with a highly skilled workforce and the availability of quality local raw materials. The decision is also in line with the inclusion of Canada in the Export Plan recently launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, in order to strengthen the Italian presence in some key markets, and responds to the trade diversification strategy adopted by Canada.
The inauguration was also attended by the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, several provincial Ministers and Invest Ontario, the provincial entity that contributed to Ferrero's investment.
