Albanian Prime Minister Edi
Rama's socialists are expected to win a landslide victory in
yesterday's political elections in Albania, according to
preliminary data. The centre-left won 83 of the 140 seats in the
Albanian parliament, or 9 seats more than the current ones. And
it is the best result ever achieved after three consecutive
terms at the helm of the country.
The centre-right opposition, led by former President of the
Republic and two-time Prime Minister Sali Berisha, has lost 12
seats, dropping to 51 deputies, according to the most recent
data. The remaining three seats were shared between three new
political forces.
